mermaid series #3 - deep sea maiden

This is the third look in my mermaid series! Here we have a mermaid that sticks to the darkest depths of the waters, where light barely reaches her. She is surrounded by sea creatures that no one else can recognise, the ones that could give the most fearless of people nightmares. She is pale and everything she wears is as dark as her surroundings. She's the sea monster everyone should fear but no one knows who she is.

This look was a little difficult, seeing as the dark eyeshadows were hard to balance. I know that everyone recommends that when you wear a smoky eye, you should wear next to no lipstick. Meanwhile, I was thinking that since this isn't exactly meant to be an everyday look, I could go ahead and put on some dark lipstick--it is autumn, after all! So there's a photo with nothing but lip balm up there, and here's another with some deep berry lipstick.

Again, please note that the continuing trend in these photos is blue eyebrows! The first look had glitter and sparkle and the blue was notably lighter, whilst the second look had just shimmer with a teal base. Here, we have deep blue matte brows that I proceeded to wear for the rest of the evening, including a trip to Target before picking up my sister from the bus stop from college.

This was definitely one of the most fun looks. I'm sorry that I don't have a close-up photo--all of them turned out blurry, which admittedly might have been me being in a hurry. Also, as much as I love wearing a dark eye look, it's absolute hell to take off. No wonder people wear smoky eyes out and wait for time to take its toll on their makeup! Urban Decay's Perversion liner will probably remain near my eyeballs for another three days and my brows will be stained blue for another two.

mermaid series #2 - ocean siren

The second look in this series is more focused on the mermaid who stays in the ocean without surfacing, who resides where a great deal of marine wildlife swims. She lives in a world that is permanently tinted blue and it's a little darker than the girls who surface.

Here's a little secret: my room gets next to no natural light because I'm a vampire, plus I usually wake up when the sun is no longer shining directly in my window, which is hardly a surprise--my window faces east, so the morning light doesn't usually enter my room. I take my natural light photos standing in front of my parents' bedroom windows. (It also makes for a nicer background because their room isn't the Bermuda triangle.)

Photos taken against a wall like this one are most likely ones taken in my bedroom. The blue eyebrows in this look are surprisingly wearable, although I think it's time to trim my eyebrows because as soon as I raise them, you can see the hairs clearly not within the confines of blue liner!

mermaid series #1 - beach dweller

My friend Courtney on Tumblr suggested that I do mermaid inspired makeup and instead of just doing one look, I've decided to turn this into a mini-series of looks! So here's the first look. This mermaid spends more time out in the sun (although you could never tell from my skin, even if I put on enough bronzer to make me orange) and prefers to swim in shallow waters or near the surface of the ocean. Since they're around sunlight, they're more likely to get a bit of a sunburn.

The blue eyebrows are what will connect the series until I branch out into more specific areas of the ocean. Let me tell you, it was definitely weird walking around my house with bright blue eyebrows and it was even more difficult to get the glitter off!
