FAQ

What can I expect to see on this blog?
I will mostly be posting looks and reviews, and the occasional tutorial. Please feel free to request tutorials of any looks that I've posted! I'll be more than happy to show you how to do something because makeup often appears intimidating, but it doesn't have to be. I will probably not be posting anything involving my nails because nail polish, while fun and very pretty, bothers me to no end. I don't have the patience to wait for it to dry, and my nails are kept so short that most nail art tutorials are useless to me. You're much more likely to see makeup, skincare, and hair products on this blog.

What is your cruelty-free status?
I aim to purchase mostly cruelty-free beauty products. I unfortunately don't always know if a brand is cruelty-free off of the top of my head whilst I'm out purchasing, so sometimes I do end up with makeup that is not from a cruelty-free brand. I purchase from cruelty-free companies that are owned by a parent company/conglomerate that is not cruelty-free because of budget issues, and because I want to encourage the parent company to see the value in being cruelty-free. The non-cruelty-free products that I own will stay in my collection until I run out and I won't be repurchasing. I'm unfortunately more lax with skin care because I have a price range I have to stick to for those sorts of products, but since there are several companies that sell at drugstore prices, that is slowly changing.

How do you approach taking care of your hair?
To be honest, I'm not all that particular about my hair. I change my shampoo and conditioner after whatever I'm using runs out, and usually by then I decide it's time to experiment with another brand. I do deep conditioning treatments with coconut oil about twice a month and I've recently started using a scalp treatment in the shower about twice a month, as well. Otherwise, I wash it every 2-3 days and I'm pretty careful with how I treat my hair. I very rarely use a blow dryer, and I only curl my hair about once every 2-3 months. Any heat I use on my hair is preceded by a heat protection spray.

What hair colours have you dyed your hair?
The first time I dyed my hair, I was in the sixth grade and my mom's friend gave me highlights that didn't grow out until I got them forcibly cut out by a bad hairstylist in China the summer after 8th grade. I generally don't dye my hair, but I've put in a dark red tint to my black hair, pink streaks, and currently my hair is growing out its reddish-brown ombre.

What’s your skintone?
My skin is neutral with a tendency toward warm. I do have rosacea, though this is a self-diagnosis--I have very red splotches on my cheeks that I've had since birth. I'm very pale and have almost always been that way.

What colors do you wear in foundations?
Urban Decay Naked Skin Liquid foundation in .5 or 1.0
Lancome Teint Idole Ultra 24H foundation in 100 Ivoire N/140 Ivoire N mix

I'm still testing out foundations, so 'd love any recommendations!

What kind of camera do you use for your pictures?
I use a Kodak EasyShare M380 camera in blue. I do not recommend this camera for blogging; it doesn't produce particularly phenomenal photos! I bought it quite a few years back because I needed to replace my old, junky digital camera and it was more for the appearance of the camera than its ability to take good pictures. I have access to a 35mm camera of my parents', though, so I might start using that for some pictures. I'm definitely not one to ask about how to take good photos as I'm completely inept at using my crappy camera, but I'm doing my best to learn.

What are your favorite colours?
Bright turquoise/blue, something similar to Tiffany's blue but darker and bolder. Blue-violet, lime green, red (especially in combination with black and white), gold, dusty rose, lavender, eggplant, rose gold. I'm a big fan of colours in general!

What’s your favorite lipstick shade?
I didn't get into lip products until relatively recently because I hate reapplying and I can't be bothered, but lately there are products that are changing that. I really enjoy deep berries or bold reds, but I also really like OCC's Memento for an everyday, less fussy shade.

Your makeup sucks! [insert rude comment here]
If you don't like what I do, don't visit my blog. It's just that simple. Don't waste your time insulting me when you could be doing something better with your life. I don't aim for perfection with this blog--makeup is supposed to be fun and messy, so if it looks sloppy, who cares? As long as you own it, that's what matters. Besides, it's boring when you see perfect makeup on everyone. I'm human, too, so I make mistakes all the time.

Most other questions could probably be answered if you visit my personal Tumblr, but feel free to drop a comment and ask me anything!
